West Ashton is a village and civil parish in Wiltshire, England. It is about southeast of Trowbridge, near the A350 between Melksham and Yarnbrook which bypasses Trowbridge. The parish includes the hamlets of Dunge (), East Town () and Rood Ashton (). Before the late 19th century, West Ashton was part of Steeple Ashton parish. Both were within the hundred of Whorwellsdown. The Anglican Church of St John the Evangelist was built in 1846 to designs of T.H. Wyatt with funding from Walter Long.〔 Its east window is a 1920 war memorial. In 1988 the church was designated as Grade II listed. The village has a primary school, West Ashton Church of England (Aided) Primary School,〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.westashton.wilts.sch.uk/ )〕 and a village hall.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://apps.charitycommission.gov.uk/Showcharity/RegisterOfCharities/CharityWithoutPartB.aspx?RegisteredCharityNumber=305589&SubsidiaryNumber=0 )〕 Rood Ashton House was a country house that was destroyed in stages during the 20th century. The parish church includes the family crypt of the Long family, formerly the owners of Rood Ashton House. To the north of the village on the A350 is the folly known as Long's Park Castle, originally a lodge for Rood Ashton House. It is now used for holiday accommodation. East Town Farm is home to a working windpump,〔http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3565396〕 one of the last in the area. ==References== 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「West Ashton」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
